Brutiful Chick of the Week - Cristina Scabbia
Twenty-twelve is looking to be a stimulating year. Black Sabbath reunion, Van Halen touring & new material, Ministry back in studios, Slipknot making a tour, even a new Batman comes out this summer! I don’t think we’ve ever gone into a year with such excitement revolving around the music community & it is kicking off with a bang! Cristina Scabbia & band Lacuna Coil have a new album coming out on the 24th, Dark Adrenaline.
Along with the new album, they got in on Gigantour, which is looking epically awesome with the likes of Volbeat, Motorhead, & Megadeth there to ear-fuck the shit out of you! The tour kicks off in Camden @ the Susquehanna Bank Center on January 26th & makes it way to the Theater at Madison Square Garden on the 28th, performing 24 shows in 33 days, leaving for many possibilities for all to return this summer.
The first single, ‘Trip the Darkness’ provides a heavy whilst sensual track to kick off the album & grabs your attention. Bringing more of a melodic hard-rock sound to the rest of the album, tracks such as ‘Kill the Light’ & ‘Give Me Something More’ stand out with robust vocals & clean synthetics. Altogether it’s a worth wild venture to check live, if only to see the temptress perform right in front of your eyes.
Be sure to grab your Gigantour tickets!
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Meytal Cohen
If you search for sexy drummers, Meytal Cohen will always come up number 1! She can thrash out on the drums like a maniac & probably kick your ass with her military training. Rocking out in LA, she received training from some top percussionist while creating her own style of music.
Aside from being featured on numerous TV shows and films, including: Jimmy Kimmel Live Show she hosts a website that shows off her mad skills by performing Lamb of God, Slayer, Tool, & many more. The videos have been viewed by millions of fans and industry professionals all over the world, including Vinnie Paul (Pantera), Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down), Jonas Akerlund (Music Video Director - Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and more) to name a few.
Check out her bad-ass skills at Meytal Cohen.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Margarita Monet
With the release of their debut album, Mask, available now, Edge Of Paradise come out of the corner swinging with some heavy industrial rock & metal sounds. Margarita and guitarist, Dave Bates, formed Edge Of Paradise toward the beginning of 2011 when their paths crossed while working together in LA. With a mix of modern rock, heavy metal riffs, brutal drums & Margarita range of vocals, Edge Of Paradise brings a fresh new sound to the scene with room to spread & grow. Be on the lookout for a tour from these guys soon!
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Skeptical Minds
I’m all about new sounds to metal & Skeptical Minds delivers that sound with passion & rage like no other. Infusing the sounds of a deeply melodic female vocals, electronic dance & metal thrashing riffs, they’ve held their own with some massive players like Lacuna Coil, Epica, Apocalyptica, Hypocrisy, Doro & many more.
Karolina Pacan brings her eloquent vocals to Skeptical Minds’ electronic metal sound, fabricating a melodic sound of pure volume awesomness! With three albums under their belt, people better watch their backs!
Check them out at SkepticalMinds.com & hear for yourself some brutiful musical talents.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Kittie
Once again the brutiful bunch of heavy metal goddesses from Canada grace the page of CMooreEvil.com with their savage sounds of destruction and tight skimpy clothing. Kittie is coming around this Sunday night to Dingbatz in support of their new album I’ve Failed You set for release August 30 from E1 Music records.
Supporting this quadruple powerhouse of metal includes, Diamond Plate, Dirge Within, Beyond The Lies, & local metal maniacs Voodoo Terror Tribe. Aside from myself being there & how you should be there, it’s all going to be hosted by friend & Sirius DJ, Jose Mangin.
Be sure to get yourself down to Dingbatz this Sunday night nice & early to not miss out on the ferocious sounds cranking out from all the brutal bands
Brutiful Chick of the Week - NØemi
Known also as, Noemi Aurora, NØemi is the singer, songwriter & illustrator for the group Helalyn Flowers. With influential bands like Deadsy, Duran Duran, Linkin Park, & KMFDM, playing a huge part in their Italian based music, their industrial-dance style music is perfect for a summer of beach goers, cruising around with the windows down & the metal blasting!!
Her partner in crime, Max, balances out the duo creating a world of contrasts made by vintage/ futuristic sounds & vibrations. A powerful mix of synths, drum machines & the raging vocals of Noemi, the two mix Punk/Wave & Goth/Nu Metal for a unique sound like no other!
Check them out on their Homepage & follow their updates via Twitter!
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Tamara Mulaosmanovic
Today we get a glimpse into Croatian metal from the band, Ashes You Leave with the very brutiful Tamara Mulaosmanovic who leads with her intense vocals & keyboard prowess!
Formed back in ‘95, under the name of Icon, they released one demo before changing their name due to a conflicting name with another band. Since then, they have released two demos and five full-length studio albums of pure heavy doom, Gothic themed death metal; making them one of the biggest Croatian metal acts out there!
They’ve gone through a few vocalist changes wince their debut, but Tamara completes the band with some brutal vocals that you must hear. Their most recent release, Songs of the Lost, demonstrates Tamara’s full range. They even cover Placebo’s “Every You Every Me” with a ravishing Gothic sound to it. Also be sure to check out their other brutiful band member, Marta Batinic, who wails away with alluring grace on the violin!
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Metallic Kitty (Kitty Saric)
Known for her extreme vocals, this thrash metal beauty fronts for the band Decadence coming out of Sweden. Kitty’s range brings a melodic sound to what you wouldn’t normally hear in a lot of the thrash coming out these days while still throwing it down with some brutal screams. Growing up in the world of metal, Kitty has made it a passion & a lifestyle out of metal.
When she’s not exhausting herself with fronting a heavy metal band, she runs a record label, HTI Records, something she started as a way to further the success of Decadence. I think it shows the rest of the metal community that self-promotion is a great way to get out there without the need of a record label. You can check out their awesome sound on the Decadence hompage & show your support by joining their brutal Street Team.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Alexis Brown
Forming back in 2000, Straight Line Stitch didn’t find their working formula until the very brutiful Alexis Brown took over on the mic, spitting out some sick-ass vocals that can get very melodic to brutally spastastic in 0.35 seconds flat!! Writing inspirational lyrics about overcoming insurmountable obstacles & never giving up on what you set out to do, her lyrics bring in a personal focus that too often bands can be lacking.
With a new album out in stores entitled, “The Fight of Our Lives,” Alexis & the crew have taken to the road & have been supporting the release of the album with some major tours. You can catch them coming back around to the New York/Jersey area on the Rockstar Mayhem Festival July 27th at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ or July 31st at the Susquehanna Bank Center down in Camden.
Be sure to check out their latest video release Conversion & on Myspace
Brutiful Chick of the Week - Nikki
A soothing seductress of sound, Nikki taking double duty on bass & vocals, True Widow, produce a droning harmony that reminisces itself in your mind & soul. Deep tones & a mellow feel relax your body & alter your mood, like that of the Deftones.
Breaking themselves from the mold of typical Dallas bands, their unique sounds & menacing undertones provide a heavy & slow tempo sludge-like beat that gives them an advantage over the rest of the crowd, setting them apart from the rest of the Texan bands.
Their debut album was released back in 2008 & I would recommend picking up a copy when they come to the Tri-State area in May on the 12th @ the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia & May 13th @ Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
Check them out @ Myspace & LastFM as well as their Twitter feed.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - CAMILA SENNE
Blasting out some solid duel male/female vocals, Camila Senne solidifies her brutality alongside Allan Ortiona in the symphonic power metal band, Thy Symphony. Like their name implies, Thy Symphony radiate a power & robust symphonic sound, delivering a classical metal sound. Camila yields very operatic vocals while Allan caters to a potent & deep vocal bass line. The release of their debut album encapsulated their talents perfectly within the title, Harmonizing The World. Synthesizing together, Thy Symphony provide a brutal mix of male leads & female leads throughout the album.
They’ve got a tour scheduled to begin in Brazil then off to Europe coming up once their new drummer is ready to go. Check out their dates on their Myspace & follow their active Twitter to stay in touch with them on a daily basis.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - HYSTERICA
Dare I say the most brutiful band in the world?!?! An all female metal band is a rare find…even rarer, their freaking good!! Formed together back in 2005, Hysterica is a brutiful Swedish heavy metal group have been touring around for some time & with a few changes to the line-up, released their debut album, Metalwar, back in the beginning of 2009.
One of the best parts about this group is you get to see not just one brutiful chick up on stage buy five awesome musicians that have put together their own uniquely heavy sound with critical acclaim from various music groups. Plus, they got some bad-ass names to go with their seductive outfits like Marydeath, Bitchie & my favorite (& god forbid I have a daughter she’s getting this name) SatAnica!!
They haven’t made it to the states yet for any touring, but if they do, you know my ass will be right in front with camera in hand hoping for some major wardrobe malfunctions. e sure to check out the video for “Girls Made of Heavy Metal” & i would suggest doing it during your alone time.
Brutiful Chick of the Week - AILYN
Born with a name I dare not attempt to pronounce, Ailyn is the lead seductress of Sirenia. Releasing their new album, The Enigma of Life, on January 21st, this is will be the second album featuring our lovely lady of the week & an album I thoroughly have enjoyed listening to in my travels the past week. Her leading vocals have brought them up notch from their previous albums & lays down a wider range of vocals that will strongly push them into the future as a whole. Being able to instantly connect & breach the apex of sound with a band that has been around for a while now, Ailyn has proven herself a vital asset to the next step in the Sirenia saga.
Our Spanish beauty has lead quite an active life before her musical career with Sirenia & have been part of some great tours over the past 3 years. Before forming with her Norwegian Goth metal band mates, she was leading in competitions for the Spanish version of “The X Factor,” another Simon Cowell TV series we can expect to see in enter the United States in the upcoming months. Her aspirations paid off & her brutally epic vocals had unexpectedly lead her to connect with Morten Veland, founding member of Sirenia, through the all but musically dead site, Myspace.
You can check out the video for their first single “The End Of It All” on their web page as well as see some more photos of the brutiful, Ailyn as well as the rest of the band. Sirenia have a few shows scheduled for the summer in Europe, but I also hope to see them make their ways overseas for a early spring tour a little closer to the Tri-State area.
For all my European fans or those with traveling money, be sure to catch them perform this summer:
July 16 @ Masters of Rock, Czech Republic
August 5-7 @ Wacken Open Air, Germany
